Sustainable development at Anstar – A long path of responsibility

At Anstar, we have been committed to responsible practices for years and the pace is continuously accelerating. We are dedicated to improving the environmental friendliness of our operations, promoting sustainable development and supporting our community in various ways. Now it’s time to showcase the latest examples of our responsibility efforts across different areas.
Responsibility means taking action across all areas. It is reflected in our sustainable product range, emissions reduction, local collaboration, and building an equitable work community.
Sustainable product range and waste reduction
A sustainable product range is the cornerstone of our operations. We have long focused on recycling and reducing waste, and we have been successful in these efforts. We continue to invest in recycling and waste minimization with even greater determination. Additionally, we periodically publish new EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations) that detail the environmental impact of our products. We collaborate with external consultants in the preparation of these EPDs.
Emissions reduction
Environmental consideration is a key part of our responsibility work. We have replaced diesel forklifts with electric ones, significantly reducing our emissions. Additionally, we have transitioned to using carbon-neutral gas in our welding machines and Neste MY renewable diesel. These measures have allowed us to reduce our carbon footprint and promote cleaner production. Carbon-neutral electricity and our own solar panels on the roofs of our facilities have been in use for years, further reducing the emissions from our energy production.
Local collaboration
Our goal is to deepen our collaboration with educational institutions, as these interactions are educational for both parties. This spring, up to 40 construction engineering students from Metropolia University visited our factory and products. We were delighted to provide them with valuable practical insights from the field. Students are more than welcome to visit us!
We also offer summer jobs to vocational and university students so they can complete internships as part of their studies and gain valuable work experience. Additionally, we have sent our supervisors to participate in professional supervisory training at Salpaus to develop their skills.
We also support local sports in various ways. We are involved in ice hockey, football, and basketball, supporting local teams. Moreover, we collaborate with a few individual athletes.
Equitable and safe work community
Our company employs people from eight different nationalities. We want to continue supporting diversity, believing it to be a wealth and an opportunity to bring diverse experiences and skills to our team. We hire people of all ages, from young to old. We believe that young and experienced employees can learn from each other and enrich the work community with their expertise. This diverse and skilled work community is one of the keys to our success.
For us, responsibility is more than just a word – it is an essential part of our business. Sustainable choices, emissions reduction, local collaboration, and an equitable work community are the actions we take to create a more sustainable future. We continue to promote these values and constantly seek new ways to improve our responsibility.
