Working at Anstar: Joni Taari – Anstar’s New CFO
Joni Taari began his role as Anstar's CFO in June. The 41-year-old Joni, who grew up in Kouvola, spent his childhood and youth as the middle child of a family of five in a pleasant and peaceful residential area. His childhood was filled with sports, particularly basketball and soccer, which he played for local clubs: basketball for Kouvot and soccer for FC Kouvola and Myllykosken Pallo. While he stopped playing soccer earlier, Joni continued playing basketball through high school. Both sports have remained close to his heart well into adulthood.
After completing primary and secondary school, Joni fulfilled his military service in Vekaranjärvi. After the army, he headed to Lappeenranta University of Technology, where he studied to become an industrial management engineer. His studies also included a six-month exchange period in Karlsruhe, Germany.
Joni graduated in 2008 and completed his thesis for a company called Sovella in Jyväskylä, which now belongs to the Treston Group. His thesis focused on the implementation of activity-based costing in a metal industry company.
Extensive work experience in various controller roles
After graduation, Joni secured a job at Sovella. As a controller, his duties included internal accounting, cost accounting and its renewal, profitability analysis, and investment calculations.
Joni began working at Uponor as a controller in 2011. At Uponor, Joni worked in various roles, including team leader. He also had a brief stint at Hartwall before returning to Uponor. In 2022, Joni moved to Kemppi as a group business controller, where he was responsible for internal accounting, data analytics, and the forecasting and budgeting process.
A new role at Anstar
In the summer of 2024, Joni took on a new challenge and started as the CFO at Anstar. His first impression of Anstar has been positive.
"The team has welcomed me warmly. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how well-structured Anstar's processes and systems are," Joni says.
In his free time, Joni enjoys watching sports and going to the gym whenever he can.
