The future of construction with high-capacity bolts

In Finland, a scene has developed that we have reason to be proud of. The shoe-bolt connection commonly used in frame construction was a child of the late '80s and a step towards more efficient and faster construction. The joint, which can be easily installed without the need for construction cranes, has become the norm for us today, while elsewhere in the world, our golden egg has not yet been understood or utilized to the same extent.
Anstar was a pioneer in this shoe-bolt connection world right from the start. We have also been trailblazers in the cessation of rebar steel, and now, more than three decades later, we have managed to introduce this connection to dozens of countries. However, Finland still clearly forms our main market.
”We spend 4 percent of our annual turnover on product development.”
Is the development of this field at its end? Not at all. We spend 4 percent of our annual turnover on product development, and for this reason, we are able to search for new golden eggs also outside our so-called basic tracks.
Full-capacity bolt is one of our pride
One result of our development work is Anstar's full-capacity bolt made from rebar steel with an extended thread. The thread made at the ceased end of the rebar we produce effectively utilizes the full capacity of the rebar. We are the only operator doing this at least in the northern European region. For example, we manage to make an M39 thread in 32 millimeter rebar.
When the thread is always inherently the weakest link in a bolt, we can thus fully utilize the capacity of the rebar. At the same time, we play our part in the construction industry's responsibility issues and do not create waste by leaving steel material just hanging around in structures. Our solution also takes up less space among reinforcements and even genuinely affects the carbon footprint of the structure.
”We can fully utilize the capacity of the rebar. "
In this special thread – just like in all our products – quality and quality control are central issues. Thanks to our own domestic production, the response time to detecting quality defects is faster. That's one reason to manufacture the product in Finland.
